My First Articles In 3D World Mag!

Well the last few months have sure been busy with every aspect of my life, from work to finding a new flat and moving, and lets not forget Christmas too.

But to start the year off with a bang I found purely by chance that 3D World had publish 2 articles, that I had written many months before, in 2 of its magazines! If you have them they are issues January #190 and February #191. They are short Q&A’s about white balance in 3Ds Max/Vray and using 3DS Max’s perspective match tool.

I have not had any of my work featured in a magazine before, let alone write for one specifically, so this has been a great start to the year for me and I look forward to possibly more articles in the future!

MIND your step

On Friday 18th of July, 10:00am, myself and 12 other brave work colleagues from Squire and Partners will start our ascent of mount Snowdon in Wales. This will mark the beginning of the Three Peaks Challenge we are undertaking.

This will be both a personal challenge and a fund raiser for the MIND charity. And at the time of writing, we have just broken £2000 raised! That’s 2000 reasons to not give up when we are struggling against the cold, the wind and the rain.

For those that don’t know, the three peak challenge is to hike up the tallest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales, and to do so in under 24 hours! This will be no easy task that is for certain. We have chosen to start with Snowdon in Wales as our start point and finish at Ben Nevis in Scotland, the middle mountain being Scafell Pike.

3 peaks

If you would like to support us then you can still donate >> here! <<

This isn’t the first time I have done something crazy too, I have also sky dived for a local hospice when I was living in Bournemouth. This was a big deal for me as I have a crazy fear of heights/falling, but turned out to be the most exhilarating thing I have ever done!

Hopefully I will make it back in one piece from this adventure, be sure to look out for my tweets as I will be posting run keeper routes and timings after each peak along with small updates on our progress.

#AcademyDay5

Finally the time has come to get this year tickets to the Academy Day conference!

This is the fifth year the guys over at State of Art have run this awesome 2 day conference for architectural visualization. You get some great people turn up every year, it’s great for learning some top techniques or new workflows, you get to network with the best the arch vis sector has to offer, and it’s just outside of Venice, so….. PIZZA!

This will be my second time I will be attending the Academy Day, my first being Academy Day 3. If you haven’t been to Venice before, I highly recommend taking 2 days before or after to explore and lose yourself in Venice as its a beautiful place to go! I am really looking forward meeting some new faces and some old ones from last time, and of course my peers from London who will be attending.

I am eager to see and learn from what MIR will be showing everyone, but lets not forget everyone else, we also have:

If you want to see it too, then look no further than >> HERE <<

This will be the first time someone I have worked with is on the list of presenters. Its 3 and half years ago I worked with Nikos and helped me in my first few weeks at Squire and Partners alot, but before he left I still managed to teach him a trick or two as well.

Hopefully I will see you there!

Matt

Its A Brave New Wor….SITE!

Well, here you go ladies and gents, a brand new site to replace the one I lost a few years ago.

Here I will be sharing what interests me, whether it be my 3D work or software or even cosplay.

I plan to also write some handy tutorials for things I commonly see go wrong in 3D, hopefully it helps someone out there, I want to give back to the community as I remember what it was like to start out both not knowing and not knowing what you don’t know.

So the site may well be a bit bare bones right now, but over time this will change as a create more content to put on here.

Matt Kennett

I have always been interested in making and building things. From the early days of Lego, then to model kits, then to computers, then to web pages, then to flash games.

All of this led me to the world of 3D, inspired by a flash game with 3D shockwave elements. I decided it can't be too hard and that I also then need to learn 3D.

That was over 10 years ago now and I am still learning 3D, I just love it! I am always looking for new things to learn and improve on.

3D does not fully consume my life though, I have other interests, some come from the 3D life like my interest in photography. This goes hand in hand with my work in Architectural Visualization. Some of my other interests include computing and gadgets, cosplay, gaming and running a monthly social for a large group in London.
